Cento anni fa, il 12 maggio 1921, nasceva a Krefeld, in Germania, l’artista Joseph Beuys, figura poliedrica e complessa, uno degli artisti più innovativi e influenti della seconda metà del Novecento.
Nel 1972, invitato dai coniugi Lucrezia De Domizio e Buby Durini, Beuys arriva a Bolognano (Pescara) dove trascorrerà molta parte dei suoi ultimi 15 anni di vita sviluppando alcuni dei suoi più importanti progetti come l’operazione Difesa della natura. È un progetto con una forte valenza ecologica ma anche antropologica, intesa come difesa dell’uomo, dei valori umani, della creatività del singolo individuo.
Nell’occasione del Centenario, Lucrezia De Domizio Durini che dalla morte di Joseph Beuys (23 gennaio 1986) ha dedicato le sue energie alla diffusione del pensiero beuysiano nel mondo, ha presentato il progetto del primo e unico museo al mondo dedicato all’opera e al pensiero dell’artista.
Ancora una volta quel borgo dell’Abruzzo, ormai famoso al mondo per l’attività che i baroni Buby Durini e Lucrezia De Domizio hanno svolto insieme a Joseph Beuys, diventa scenario di una nuova operazione culturale, dedicata all’artista tedesco.
Il “Paradise Museum of Joseph Beuys” si trova all’interno del “Luogo della Natura”, un ipogeo di 800 metri quadri, costruito all’interno della Piantagione Paradise, divenuta sede dei soggiorni di Beuys e dove l’artista creò la famosa operazione Difesa della Natura.
La baronessa De Domizio ha affidato la progettazione all’architetto Maurizio De Caro, docente di estetica e pianificazione territoriale alla Facoltà di Architettura e Società del Politecnico di Milano, che trasformerà l’ipogeo in un unicum nell’arte mondiale.
Per l’allestimento del museo saranno utilizzati i materiali/simbolo propri delle opere dell’artista: la luce, il legno, l’acciaio, il plexiglas e il cemento. Si tratta di un concetto innovativo di decostruzione e trasformazione in uno spazio concettuale e metafisico.
Il nuovo museo sarà inaugurato il 12 Maggio 2022 con numerose opere dell’artista e con l’apertura del più grande archivio di Joseph Beuys.
Inoltre saranno fruibili opere di artisti di diversi Paesi, invitati dalla De Domizio Durini. Autori in qualche modo vicini al pensiero del Maestro.

Joseph Beuys, A Museum for his Centenary
One hundred years ago, on May 12, 1921, the artist Joseph Beuys was born in Krefeld, Germany, a multifaceted and complex figure, one of the most innovative and influential artists of the second half of the twentieth century.
In 1972, invited by his spouses Lucrezia De Domizio and Buby Durini, Beuys arrives in Bolognano (Pescara) where he will spend most of his last 15 years of life developing some of his most important projects such as the Defense of Nature operation. It is a project with a strong ecological but also anthropological value, understood as the defense of man, of human values, of the creativity of the individual.
On the occasion of his centenary, Lucrezia De Domizio Durini who since the death of Joseph Beuys (23 January 1986) has dedicated her energies to the spread of Beuysian thought in the world, presented the project of the first and unique museum in the world dedicated to the work and to the artist’s thought.
Once again that village of Abruzzo, now famous in the world for the activity that the barons Buby Durini and Lucrezia De Domizio carried out together with Joseph Beuys, becomes the setting for a new cultural operation, dedicated to the German artist.
The “Paradise Museum of Joseph Beuys” is located inside the “Place of Nature“, an 800 square meter hypogeum, built inside the Paradise Plantation, which became the seat of Beuys’ stays and where the artist created the famous Defense of Nature operation.
Baroness De Domizio entrusted the design to the architect Maurizio De Caro, professor of aesthetics and territorial planning at the Faculty of Architecture and Society of the Milan Polytechnic, who will transform the hypogeum into a unicum in world art.
The materials / symbols of the artist’s works will be used to set up the museum: light, wood, steel, plexiglas and concrete. It is an innovative concept of deconstruction and transformation into a conceptual and metaphysical space.
The new museum will be inaugurated on 12 May 2022 with artist’s numerous works and with the opening of the largest archive dedicated to him.Furthermore, works by artists from different countries, who have been invited by De Domizio Durini, will be available. Authors somehow close to the Master’s thought.
