In quest’epoca di transizione diversi sistemi politici tentano di accreditarsi come portatori di un futuro certo.
Buona parte delle dichiarazioni dei leader politici hanno un obiettivo primario dal punto di vista ideologico: l’autolegittimazione del regime economico e sociale che rappresentano. Lo abbiamo visto durante la guerra fredda quando l’Occidente si gloriava di essere il sistema delle libertà e l’URSS quello della giustizia sociale. Oggi sembra che ambedue le superpotenze abbiano la necessità di auto – supportarsi ancora di fronte ai rispettivi popoli.
Libertà individuale o giustizia sociale
Il Presidente Joe Biden, ad esempio, ha chiesto che il Congresso approvi una dichiarazione ufficiale in cui si dice che cento anni fa i turchi si resero responsabili di un vero genocidio nei confronti degli armeni. Come a volere far dimenticare il razzismo di ampie fasce della società americana, rappresentate per quattro anni al vertice delle istituzioni da Donald Trump. Ma Vladimir Putin fa molto di più e ammonisce l’Occidente a non dimenticare che la Russia è comunque una superpotenza nucleare e che il sistema politico di Mosca è migliore di ogni altro sistema democratico. È evidente che lo zar Vladimir gioca in difesa, tentando di giustificare la vicenda Aleksej Navalny e la violazione sistematica dei diritti umani e civili nel suo Paese.
Famiglia e omofobia in Russia
L’emendamento costituzionale, di recente da lui fatto approvare, che gli permetterebbe di governare fino al 2036, contiene norme che danno un suggello alla sua svolta antidemocratica. Si stabilisce la superiorità della Costituzione russa sulle leggi internazionali; si conferisce al presidente il potere di rimuovere i giudici federali, si definisce il matrimonio come una relazione esclusivamente tra un uomo e una donna, chiudendo a ogni forma di tolleranza riguardo all’omosessualità. La maggioranza dei russi lo sostiene.
Futuro verde e presente grigio
L’Unione Europea, alle prese con il Covid, la minaccia dell’immigrazione incontrollata e il caos mediorientale tenta di autolegittimarsi come campione dei diritti umani e della pace, mentre le sue industrie d’armi riforniscono ogni angolo del globo. Minaccia ed eroga sanzioni a destra e a manca e promette un futuro verde che è come un brindisi a cui tutti vogliono partecipare con il bicchiere vuoto. E non convince. I movimenti euroscettici crescono e non ricevono maggiori consensi solo perché non propongono nulla di alternativo all’Unione. Non è esagerato dire che il futuro non è mai apparso tanto indecifrabile.
Self-legitimation for Russia, US and UE
In this era of transition, various political systems are trying to be accredited as bearers of a certain future.
Most of the statements of political leaders have a primary objective from an ideological point of view: self-legitimation of the economic and social regime they represent. We saw it during the cold war when the West prided itself on being the system of freedoms and the USSR that of social justice. Today it seems that both superpowers are in need of help, still supporting each other in front of their respective peoples.
Individual freedom or social justice

As if to make people forget the racism of large sections of American society, represented for four years at the top of the institutions by Donald Trump. It is evident that Tsar Vladimir plays defence, trying to justify the Aleksei Navalny affair and the systematic violation of human and civil rights in their country.
Family and homophobia in Russia

The European Union, struggling with Covid, the threat of uncontrolled immigration and Middle Eastern chaos tries to legitimize itself as a champion of human rights and peace, while its arms industries supply every corner of the globe. It threatens and delivers sanctions left and right and promises a green future that is like a toast that everyone wants to join with an empty glass. And it is not convincing. Eurosceptic movements are growing and they do not receive more support just because they do not propose anything alternative to the Union. It is no exaggeration to say that the future has never seemed so indecipherable.
